2006. Stockport Flats

In the wake of Federal Disaster #1649, a flood along the Upper Delaware River, I founded the press Stockport Flats. I hosted the High Watermark Salo[o]n to showcase writers and artists whose work buoyed others’ creativity. Checkout the High Watermark chapbooks at http://www.stockportflats.org From those exhibitions and poetry performances, I branched out into multiple series. FLOOD MEANDER SCAR is a river's experiment: high water forges new flow patterns. The mainstream may never frequent these pathways; yet, the record of such possibilities intensifies our awareness. Poets: Matthew Klane , Deborah Poe , Belle Gironda , Fred Muratori , Katie Yates , Kate Schapira , Melanie Noel , Belinda Kremer , Laura Neuman , Laura E. J. Moran . CONFLUENCE occurs when two or more streams merge or when non-riverine bodies of water meet. This poetry series seeks such convergence by publishing writers from divergent communities. Poets: Mary Olmsted Greene , Deborah Woodard , Audrey Naffziger , Esperanza Cintrón , Suzette Bishop . WITNESS refers to a signpost "placed on a claim line when it cannot be placed in the corner because terrain makes sustainability and reclamation difficult. These writers bear witness to this complex task; their claims work toward awareness and action. Poets: John Ehab , Lisa Wujnovich , Brandi Katherine Herrera , Lillien Waller . The geological term, WAVEFRONT, refers to a surface of a seismic disturbance. Stone shifts. Splash. Visual record. Light is sent out in all directions. Artists in this series give us direction by pointing to edges of beauty; they lure others into their wake. Poets/Artists: Cass Collins , Nicole Peyrafitte .
